The idea that only the government should focus on early-stage innovation and only businesses should handle later-stage innovation is not accurate. It's especially not true when it comes to tackling complex technical challenges in energy, where the main goal is to reach a large scale. Working together from the beginning is important because businesses can offer valuable support like testing new technologies, giving market knowledge, and sharing investment. They are also the ones who will eventually bring the technology to the market, so it's best to get them involved early on.
